Tea is the most essential part of my day. I have it in the morning, at work, before leaving work and when I am in the mood to relax also. In today’s day and age, people are all into the fitness fad and green tea. Yes it does detoxify the body and cleanses the system, but a good old cup of milky tea wouldn’t hurt once in a while 😉
Coming from Mumbai, we have the concept of “cutting chai” when translated literally means “half-tea”. The reason for it being served that way is because it is prepared with various spices and milk, thus making it very strong for the palette hence only half a glass is served to the customer. Somehow this concept reminds me of a simple lesson involving optimism and pessimism, I am sure you have heard of it already. Well then, here is me serving up a nice piping hot cup of optimistic “Masala Chai” ( Masala Tea ) !
SHOPPING LIST :
- 1 Tbsp Tea Powder ( Black )
- 1 small piece of Ginger
- 2-3 pcs Cardamom
- 1 small piece Star Anise
- 2 tsps Sugar
- 1/4 cup Milk
- 1 cup Water
Place the Water, Sugar, Cardamom and Ginger in a saucepan and bring it to a boil. Once its boiling, add the tea powder and let it simmer for 2 minutes. Then add the milk and let it simmer for 5 minutes. Strain into little teacups and serve !
See its that easy ! There is no rocket science involved into making a refreshing cup of tea. Do not forget to enjoy it with some Marie biscuits or even Rusk tastes good when dipped into the tea.
