Everyone struggles with the thought of preparing their own Mayonnaise supply at home. It’s time consuming, tiring and so difficult.
Well .. Not Anymore !!
I recently decided to prepare some of my very own Mayonnaise and believe me it turned out perfect ! It really is no rocket science and I made it in the simplest way possible. So, lets get whisking !
- 3 Egg Yolks
- 500 ml Corn/Sunflower Oil
- 1 tsp Yellow Mustard
- Juice of 1 Lemon
- Salt and Pepper
First you need to separate the Egg Yolks from the Egg Whites. You can retain the whites for some omelette later as you would definitely require some protein after the rigorous workout that’s about to follow !
Put the egg yolks in a large mixing bowl, with the mustard and start whisking. Slowly trickle in the oil, keeping a 5 second count between the pouring. So basically you count till 5 and pour the oil in slowly, and then whisk as fast as you can. Mind you, this is going to leave you with some muscle and a sore arm. But the pain won’t last for very long so don’t worry 🙂
Once all the oil is poured in and your mixture turns nice and thick, add in the lemon juice using the 5 second count with a little salt and pepper and continue whisking. Voila ! You just created the most simple and your very own Mayo !
In-case the mixture goes bad while you are preparing it, just start a new batch and add in the old batch to it. You might just have a whole big lot of Mayonnaise, but oh well .. its totally worth it !
